ISLAND LIFE: Stone Island has arrived in the British Isles with a capsule collection for Dover Street Market in London. The all-black Stone Island x Dover Street Market collection is co-branded and the clothing is meant for cold weather – when it finally becomes available.

There are garment-dyed coat silhouettes made from David-TC Down, a special fabric developed by Stone Island’s in-house team, and a longline parka with a detachable hood and stand-up collar.

The collection also includes overshirts made from brushed organic cotton canvas; Lambswool knitwear, including a crew-neck cardigan with a hood, and cotton gabardine cargo pants.

The collection was launched at Dover Street Market to coincide with Frieze London, where Stone Island is an official partner. Housed in a special installation on the ground floor, the capsule houses an army of black-clad statues.

The collaboration marks the beginning of Stone Island’s collaboration with Dover Street Market, which marks its 20th anniversaryTh anniversary next year.

On Thursday, Stone Island CEO Robert Triefus and Dover Street Market Vice President Dickon Bowden co-hosted a luncheon at Rose Bakery on the store’s top floor. The guests also included the chairman and CEO of Moncler, Remo Ruffini.

In 2021, Moncler took full control of Stone Island, and at the time, Ruffini said the menswear brand’s goal was to redefine luxury “far from the traditional stereotypes.”

The capsule collection will not be limited to London. It will be unveiled at Dover Street Market Ginza in Tokyo on Saturday alongside an installation of archival Pure Metal Shell jackets. They will be displayed in the store’s Elephant Space.

The installation commemorates Hannibal’s crossing of the Alps in 218 BC. It includes 19 Pure Metal Shell pieces from the Fall 1999 collection. One was made of bronze while the others were made of stainless steel, real armor to fight the elements.
